Blue Collar Dog

We went to a local trial this past weekend and came home with a bunch of prizes. One of the trophies was a beautiful blue leather collar. Unfortunately it was huge. Too big for the border collie that won it. We told Skid it wouldn't fit him either but he wanted to try it on anyway. We did have one dog big enough for the collar. Kit.
After assuring her that it was very pretty she posed so everyone could see it. I bet you wish you had such a well dressed guardian dog.

A Haunting

We've recently been visited by a new cat. I have no idea where he would have come from since the nearest occupied house is several miles away. We just catch glimpses of him. Well, us humans catch only glimpses. Salem has run into him a few times on his outside patrols and ends up getting his face rubbed in the dirt. We were hoping he'd settle in and claim the area outside our front yard for himself and then Salem can have the area around the house and of course the inside of the house if he can find a place unoccupied by Poe.
Last week, Skid helped the new cat understand the boundaries and so far the lesson seems to have stuck, which is good because we don't want to have to relocate him because he is bullying Salem.
I was only able to catch one picture of him.Scott has already given him a name.
Ghost.

Dangerous Poe-sitions

In the course of his daily duties, Poe sometimes finds the need to get himself into some tricky positions. For example, when it became necessary to defend the household from the infamous headless pink teddy bear, he risked life and limb to do the "over the back attack". When the bear continued it's relentless battle for dominance, Poe fearlessly did the "head first into the enemy" position. But sometimes, even though I know he is a professional, I worry.
This position gave me pause (paws?)

I'm not sure what Poe calls it, but I call it "Dangerous"

Mommy's Little Angel

My mother has decided to get a new rough collie puppy.
Tag will be 9 this fall and although he's not slowing down yet, he might soon (one can dare to dream). She will need a new partner if she's going to stay active in agility in California. So the new one will come home on September 1. Now, I tried to explain to my mother the rule about naming your dog. You know. The one that says "don't name your dog anything you don't want it to become"?

Another Blog?

YES! Another blog. I'm putting them out fast and furious right now. I'll be leaving again in a couple of weeks and you'll have to go a whole 3 weeks plus with no blogs. I'm trying to make up for it now. Go slow and pace yourself and maybe you can make them last.

K9 Humor

In the summertime we give our outside dogs some shelter from the sun by making each of them a little lean-to. It's nothing fancy but it's made from a wool sack and lets the breeze flow through. The dogs seem to like them. Maybe they think they are camping.
This is Bean and her lean-to. She has added a little style to it by chewing the edges and making it look like a fashionable fringe.

One day I looked out and found Bean's little pup-tent destroyed. There was no sign of Bean. I started calling, "Bean! Bean! Where are you? Has anyone seen Bean?" I got no answer but Bean's fallen wool sack began to move. So I called again, "Bean?" And then there she was! "Ha Ha, Bean!" I laughed out loud so she'd know I got the joke.

My Garden?

Well some might call it a garden. Skid doesn't. He's gotten tired of my feeble efforts to pull weeds and plant this year so he's decided to take matters into his own hands.. er, paws. What he doesn't know is that I actually have a plan. I'm sure they're not all weeds. Look! I was actually right!

Computer Woes

A couple of days ago my computer wouldn't turn on. I rushed it in to the repair center and waited for their call to tell me what was wrong. When they finally called they said, "I have never, in all my years as a computer tech, ever seen so much pet hair and dander inside a computer! We even took pictures of it."
Pet hair in the computer? I have no idea what they are talking about.

The Perfect Hiding Place

They'll never find me here!
