Eureka!

The first one came at 2AM. Once I convinced Megan that it wasn't an alien she took to motherhood right away. 5 more followed with a total of 3 boys and 3 girls.
She and I decided that since lots of dogs are having puppies right now, we didn't want to bore everyone with another blog showing picture after picture of black and white slugs. So we'll just give you a glimpse of them now and when their eyes open and they start looking like pups we'll post more. I guess that's all she's going to let you see.

Waiting

People keep asking if Meg has had her pups yet. No. Nope. Nah-uh.
She's actually not due until tomorrow (Thursday) but as large as she is we figured she'd whelp early. However Meg has other plans. She's enjoying her whelping box. Why would she want to spoil it by having puppies? Right now she and her goose have it all to themselves and lots of food to boot. She's showing no signs of planning to deliver anytime soon and she's been trying to convince me that there are no puppies. She's just fat 'cause she has a glandular problem and I should feed her more and quit talking about pups.
Megan, I'm on to you. You can't hold out forever.

As Big As A...

Megan has been moved to her whelping box in anticipation of the puppies due this week. It should be easier for the sow to farrow in there.

One Of These Things Is Not Like The Other

Hmmm. I wonder who is laying the white egg?

Wiped Out

I don't think anyone realizes how truly hard it is destroying things every day.

Behold The Behemoth

Our Megan has gained a little. No, I'm not over feeding her. She's going to have some children in two weeks. She's actually even bigger than she looks in these photos but she's hard to photograph because she thinks that if she has her picture taken she'll loose her soul. (I took the previous picture out the window)
She had never been a house dog until recently but she has taken to it well. She has gotten attached to a stuffed goose and won't go in her crate unless her goose comes with her. I'm not sure how the goose is going to like living in the whelping box.

Spectators

I am not a sports person. Scott, unfortunately for me, is. He'll watch anything. Tennis, golf, and of course the tried and true hockey, baseball and football. Jed likes TV too but prefers animal related programing, like bull riding. I approve of that but now there is a new sports spectator in our house and I don't want to watch what he wants to watch. Jed has taught Skid the wonders of TV sports watching. So far it seems to just be limited to golf. Great. Now I'm completely out voted. So when my friend Louanne calls me and says, "Did you see ER this week?" NOPE. I had to watch golf. I'm guessing that Skid is thinking that the ball is similar to the little red dots (laser pointer) that sometimes appear around the house because he attacks the screen whenever the ball is shown. At least Drift agrees with me. Golf is boring and I don't want to see it or hear it.

Proud Pop

This is Chase and her new family. Originally her owner was worried that she wasn't pregnant. Chase responded yesterday by whelping 9 live puppies. Her owner is keeping this one. Mummy's little twin. Why am I showing you this litter of border collies out of all the ones born in this world? 'Cause in about 8 weeks one is coming home with us! We're thinking about this one. She was number 8 born and pretty tough since there was a bit of a wait in line. Number 7 was having some difficulties so there was a bottleneck. Chase's owner says that she is pushing all the other pups away from the nipple to get her fill. Yeah, that's what Scott wants. A pushy dog. She'll do. Oh, and just why would she be so pushy? She comes by it honestly. Pleat is her father. Sorry, no smug and proud pictures of the father today. He's out back smoking 9 cigars.
