Talking Turkey

We are traveling for the next 2 months for competitions and Scott will be teaching several clinics.
The current farm we are visiting sent out the welcoming party as we arrived and we were greeted by all sorts.
Some spruced up for our visit and took a bath,
 others were a little standoffish,
but some showed they were cock of the walk.
Finally the big boys came out.
They weren't quite as happy about our visit and spent the afternoon circling the camper and letting us know who was actually in charge.
Needless to say, Skid was really hoping I'd accidentally leave the door open.
Somehow I think that would be a very bad idea. (and I don't mean for the turkeys)

Weathervane?

When I went to visit Louanne last week, I noticed she had bought a couple of new weathervanes for her house.
But then the new weathervanes began to honk and I realized these were real geese!
Apparently, it was important to be "king" of Louanne's castle because other geese came in and shoved them off and took their place.
I have no idea how these web footed birds were perching up there but they looked pretty satisfied with the view.

Sleepover!

This is Little Joe.
Joe is Skid's BFF.
So Skid went to visit Joe for a sleepover, and see how the other half lives.
Joe and Skid shared their favorite activities,
and stayed up late in bed.
But when it was time to go, Joe was happy to catch up on his beauty rest.
See ya later, Joe!

Vicious Guardian Dog

Beware.
We have very mean guardians at our farm.
Sure.
It looks like play.
But it's actually practice,
for CHOMPING ON SOMEONE'S HEAD!
Mean, mean dogs.
I'm just sayn'...

Tagging

Today's chores require help.
In lead, we have the professional,...
Hemp
and in back up, we have the youngster,
Nan.
Once the dogs have pushed the lambs against a fence, a big strong man is needed to tame the wild beasts.
For this task, we'll use Scott.
Then we put them on a highly scientific weighing device called a bathroom scale.
Suck it in, Lamb!

Since the lamb was deemed old enough to get it's ears pierced,
it's awarded some fashionable jewelry.
An earring!
oooo!
Only the most hip lambs are wearing them this year.

And finally, Togo cools off,
 'cause he worked so hard.

New Tricks

Skid is working on his repertoire of tricks...
We've got the easy one, the speak:
And the tried and true, the beg (or as Skid knows it, "Prairie Dog"):
And now, for the first time anywhere, the premier of, the bow:
You'll have to excuse his expression.
He's still concentrating and hasn't learned how to put his "show" face on yet.
