Seriously

Bunny Agility
Yeah, you heard me right. They were at a trial we are at right now. Apparently Bunny Agility is pretty cut-throat. You gotta stay on top of things if you want to be the best. They told us about another club starting up.
I have it on good authority that they are just fly by night and won't make it.
The club I watched has the record high jumping bunny.
The crowed was enthusiastic.
Or was that bewildered?

The Dog Days of Summer

Although I love my little farm on the prairie, every year, there are a few hot weeks where it isn't very fun. This has been a hot week.
We have no air conditioning.
We have no pool (I don't count the pond - it's just a tad cloudy).
So it doesn't help when my mother sends me pictures of my Father's dog, Hoover - keepin' it cool. Hold on Hoover, I'm coming to join you!

Beware The Man In The Hat

Scott decided he had to have this hat.He actually went shopping for it.

Skid noticed it the other day.He didn't trust it.
I hate it.Scott wore it to the last clinic he taught.
His students hated it.
They teased him until he quit wearing it. Don't worry Skid.
Deep down, I think Scott knows we're right.

?

I really don't know what to say about this. There was a large yellow blob walking around at the trial this weekend.
June (3rd from left) seems to be the only one disturbed. I was just plain perplexed.

Doin's in the Dog Yard

I'm always fascinated by our dog yard. Our dogs get plenty of free run time twice a day but it's what they do when they are tied up that entertains me. They are able to interact with the dog on the next barrel but I'm always curious as to what they do with their own space.
This year, we were going to plant trees for shade but with the drought, we figured that would be a loosing battle so we were back to our lean-to shaders.
In the heat, Gael uses hers as is,
but Sleat has added a basement.Just as we were getting used to the heat, Southern Alberta changed and we are now experiencing a few days of cold (42F all day today) and rain. So I added some straw to the barrels. Not because it is cold enough to need it, but so the dogs can use it to dry out when they get wet.
Now that was endless entertainment for young Dave the Dog.Dave is 6 months old and has only recently been assigned his own barrel.I guess the addition of straw changes everything and it's serious business arranging it properly.Periodically he would come up for airand come out of his barrel just to go back in and start all over again.Be grateful that I didn't attach a soundtrack to this chore - it would have gone something like this, "bark, bark, bark, bark, bark, bark..." and so on. He's easily amused. Of course, since I'm amused by the easily amused, what does that make me?

More of the Name Game

In a previous post, I went over how all my dogs got their names but I neglected to mention the cats.
Poe is self explanatory (Edgar Allan) but you might be wondering about Salem.
I picked the name Salem as a tribute to some cats I used to know in my last life. My life before my little house on the prairie. Back when I still lived in Los Angeles and trained animals for television.

Salem was named after this cat, who's name was Boo.And this cat, who's name was WitchOh, and mostly this cat, who's name was Elvis.Collectively, they were all known as Salem and we worked on a TV show called Sabrina The Teenage Witch.
I loved those cats and we got to do some crazy things with them. They always seemed to be up for anything. (this is Witch again)
So, you ask, after all that fun I used to have, does my Salem know any tricks?
Well, you can ask him...

"Hell NO! I'm a cat and everyone knows you can't train a cat! Now go away and quit interrupting my nap."
