Minimal Monday - Barbed Wire and Chains

One of the most beautiful phenomenons I have seen on the prairies is a hoar frost. Whenever we get an evening fog we wake up to a transformed farm the next morning. Even boring things like tire chains get a soft dusting of lace that spiffs them up. The only problem with the hoar frost is that it means we are having a damp cold. Seriously, it makes a difference. The thermometer says we aren't as cold as it feels. The weather men keep taunting us with promises of above freezing weather in a few days but just like the proverbial carrot, when we get near, they yank it away to just out of our reach.

Jenny these are really great pictures. The one of the chain doesn't even look real..it looks like a painting! What an eye you have for capturing the perfect perspective!

I have always thought that hoar frost is beautiful. But you're right in saying that it means that it is a damp cold and that does feel colder than what the thermometer says.

I also have to agree with these weather people saying that it's going to get warmer and then when you get close to the date.......nope, sorry.

those are some really cool pictures Jenny. Good enough to frame! Having lived in ID where it got cold, then moving here to TN where it gets damp cold, I can agree that damp cold sets into your bones more. I hate the cold here, it really makes me hurt even when the temp isn't all that cold.

Beautiful shots! We had that here too, and I decided not to track because it was too bone-chilling even though the thermometer said it was only minus 5 C. I can sympathize!
